The West Bengal government will set up two deep sea ports in South 24
Parganas district, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said Thursday.
"The
port at Sagar will be a joint venture of the state government, the
railways and Kolkata Port Trust. The port at Rosulpur will be built in
the public-private partnership mode," Banerjee told reporters here.
She was speaking after a meeting of the cabinet committee on infrastructure.
The chief minister said the government would float a global tender for the Rosulpur project.
The
government would also set up a large market at Bolpur in Birbhum
district for selling goods manufactured by self help groups (SHGs).
"It
will come up on 199 acres of land," she said, adding it would be called
"Bissho Bangla Bazaar" (Global Bengal Market). Goods like pottery items
and jewellery would be sold at the bazaar.
