The grand finale of the first edition of Shillong Fashion Week(SFW) held
here Saturday was an amalgamation of style, glamour and sensuality with
plethora of colours, motifs and cuts sashayed on ramp.
The
finale was shared by two designers -- Gaurav and Ritika - known for
presenting women in sensual yet sophisticated manner and Mumbai-based
designer Nachiket, whose pieces easily attract women of all age-group.
"The
collection shown at SFW showcases my journey in the fashion world till
now as I have completed five years in the industry," said Nachiket, who
showcased key pieces depicting his close association with techniques
ranging from cutwork, applique, texturising, embroidery, beading,
shibori resist and origami dyeing.
Dresses, skirts, jackets,
saris and trousers heavily dominated his line. Nachiket received
applause for some of his pieces that according to the guests were
"artworks of its kind".
Gaurav and Ritika's design, on the other
hand, had a Victorian feel with lot of dresses and free flowing gowns
highlighting women's curves.
"SFW has been a great experience and hope and it was great showcasing our designs here," said Gaurav.
Like
any other grand finale, this show also had its share of creativity
with a northeast-based Opera singer performing in tribute of his
father's demise recently.
The simple ramp set up could be considered as biggest turn-out something for the finale shows.
If
we talk about glitches, the delay of show-timings at the start of the
day affected the finale also with every show running approximately three
hour late. This resulted in less audience - most of them localities of
northeast.
In all it was a nice show to end the first edition of SFW.
